Volunteer At Circle R Ranch |
|
Be a volunteer with us at Circle R Ranch! Are you the kind of person who enjoys getting dirty? Do you enjoy the “smell of horse?” Or maybe you’re not sure and would like an opportunity to find out. With the busy summer time come lots of opportunities for us to share life on the farm with those who are looking for a rewarding volunteer position. So roll up your sleeves and get ready to have some great fun!

We do require volunteer members to be 13 years old or older and to be available to volunteer with us on a regular basis. There’s a lot to learn so you will need to invest some time with us. We ask that you commit at least six days per month. You will be learning the horses’ names and personalities, how to care for the horses including feeding, grooming and tacking up, as well as assisting our customers while at the barn or riding on trail. So that involves working on your riding skills, too!

What to Bring and Wear
Please wear riding boots and long pants. Be sure to bring plenty of water to drink and your packed lunch. |
|
Example of the chores you may be asked to do
- Bringing horses in from the pastures
- Grooming and saddling the horses
- Feeding grain and hay to the horses
- Watering the horses
- Cleaning manure from the stalls and aisle ways of the barn
- Loading and unloading hay in the barns
- Cleaning tack
- Maintaining pastures and trails

Now the question - what’s in it for you?
For each 3 full days worked you will get a minimum of an hour’s riding time (or 6 half days for an hour’s riding time.) As you gain riding experience, you are then in a position to help our guides take out trails, giving you even more time in the saddle. There are additional perks to volunteering that may not have occurred to you - you will develop a much-admired “farmer’s tan”! All kidding aside, the physical aspects of the job will give you a workout that you aren’t even expecting as you are enjoying time with the horses. Brushing is a great upper-body toner, not to mention carrying the saddles and saddle pads from the tack room to saddle each horse. Horseback riding will improve your balance, coordination and strength. And sharing what you have learned with other folks will be a great way to develop or just brush-up on your “people skills”.

Please contact us by telephone or email and let us know what works for you. You are always invited to visit and get a feel for how we operate. During the summer months we operate daily so you can pick a full day (9:00 am to 6:00 pm) or a half day (9:00 am to 1:00 pm or 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm) that works best for your schedule. We look forward to meeting you!
